Derwent water, Keswick

Keswick is in the northern part of the 'Lakes' and nestles by Derwent water, overlooked by several beautiful hills including: Latrigg (from which Bassenthwaite can also be seen), Causey Pike and Lake District National Park is one of Britain's most dramatic regions; an area of outstanding natural beauty. Tucked away in the north-west corner of England it is the biggest of her national parks, covering 885 square miles. The area contains: high fells, rocky crags, lush green dales, long still lakes, villages and quiet hamlets. It contains England's highest mountain in Scafell Pike and her deepest lake - Wastwater. The area became widely known in the 19th century when William and Dorothy Wordsworth wrote about the area in their poems and journals. The area then became fashionable as a stream of poets, artists and writers came to visit them at Grasmere.
