Two splice plates are introduced inthe length of each girder, and reinforcement againstbuckling is provided at the bolsters by means of 4-in. x5-in. x %-in. angle and a 4%-in. x 3-in. x %-in. verticaltee, securely riveted to the girder web. The bottommember at the side of each girder is bent inward at theend sill and the two members meet at the center line ofthe car, where they are spliced together to form theend sills. In addition, a 3/16-in. x 9yo-in. plate is se-curely riveted to the above-mentioned angles and thisis reinforced on the bottom with a 3V2-in. x 21/2-in. x^-in. angle.
