Pterodactyl flying reptiles, illustration. These pterosaurs lived around 150 million years ago during the Cretaceous period. Pterodactylus antiquus is thought to be the one and only species known. Pterodactylus is considered as transitional between mammals and birds, being the first pterosaur species identified as a flying reptile.
