He was sent to Camp Dix for transfer through theInfantry into the Signal Corps. He served a few months as aphotographic instructor, and then was transferred to CampAlfred Vail, Little Silver, N. J., for duty in the radio researchlaboratories. April 1, 1918, he reported by order of the WarDepartment to the School of Military Aeronautics, Ithaca, N. graduated from this school and was sent to Camp Dick,Dallas, Texas. From there he was transferred to Ellington Field,Texas, thence to the School of Fire, Sa Leon, Texas. He grad-uated from a five-weeks course there and was sent back to Elling-ton Field. Lieutenant Fraatz was discharged from the RegularArmy in January, 1919. 228 KALEVIM
