Meeting of King Richard II with the Duke of Lancaster, Henry of Bolingbroke, (The future Henry IV) at Flint Castle, 1399

Illustration from Cassell's illustrated history of England published circa 1896. Although Bolingbroke is paying the respect of kneeling before Richard by this time Richard is effectively under arrest. It is said that even the dog knew who was in charge and showed obedience to the future King instead of its master.
