Melanie Panayiotou representing Australia, competing in the 2017 London Marathon. She went on to finish 19th in a time of 02:35:25

Melanie finished 2015 ranked 3rd on the Australian National Marathon Rankings after running a 2:34:33 marathon in Rotterdam in April. 2013 was an exciting year that saw Melanie win multiple Half Marathon events. She was the surprise performer at the Melbourne Marathon in October 2013 where she ran a 2:41:47 marathon to place 3rd female in an elite field. With the help of her new coach, Prof Richard Telford, she ran 2:38:26 in the Nagoya Women’s Marathon in Japan in March 2014 which secured her a spot on the 2014 Australian Commonwealth Games marathon team. With another solid build up with Coach Telford, Melanie ran another big PB at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where she placed 8th overall in 2:35:01. And only a couple of months later she claimed her first National Title at the Sydney Half Marathon. Her most recent marathon, and another PB, was in Rotterdam in April 2015, where Melanie finished 4th overall in a time of 2:34:33 – a qualifier of both the 2015 World Championships and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
