Cambodia: Hu Nim (alt. Hou Nim) in the Khmer Rouge 'liberated zone', 1973. Hu Nim, alias Phoas (1930/1932-1977) was a Cambodian Communist intellectual and politician who held a number of ministerial posts. His long political career included spells with the Sangkum regime of Prince Norodom Sihanouk, the Communist guerrilla resistance, the GRUNK coalition government-in-exile, and the administration of the Communist Party of Kampuchea (Khmer Rouge). Hu Nim had a reputation as a highly independent-minded and outspoken member, and was executed at Tuol Sleng in 1977 during a Party purge.
