Tarantula Nebula (30 Doradus). Combined optical and infrared image of the large star-forming region known as the Tarantula Nebula. This nebula is is 170,000 light years from Earth, in the constellation of Dorado. It is part of the Large Magellanic Cloud, a small satellite galaxy of our Milky Way. Image data obtained with the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) and Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instruments of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST).
