College Hall U-Penn - View the historic Gothic Revival architecture style College Hall with the William Pepper Jr, MD statue. Dr Pepper was an American physician, leader in medical education in the nineteenth century, and a longtime Provost of the University of Pennsylvania in West Philadelphia, PA. College Hall was the first building on the West Philadelphia campus. The University of Pennsylvania is a private Ivy League research university in Philadelphia. The University claims a founding date of 1740 and is one of the nine colonial colleges chartered prior to the Declaration of Independence.
