Manatees (Trichechus manatus latirostris) are herbivorous aquatic mammals that inhabit shallow coastal waters and estuaries in the tropical and subtropical Atlantic Ocean and in the Gulf of Mexico. They are a subspecies of the West Indian manatee. Its population is in decline due to the threat of recreational watercraft. Photographed in Crystal River, Florida, USA.
