A tall-growing native variety of ageratum comes in use'tul, because blue flowers are scarce at this time of year. The Klondyke cosmos does well outside here, and is just beginning to bloom. We can grow a spring and a fall crop of cosmos of all varieties. August-sown crops are showing buds at eighteen inches. Sweet alyssum blooms all win- ter and has already begun to do so. The Madagascar periwinkle blooms continually, also the fibrous-rooted be- gonias, but these are not grown in such large quantities as they are in the north, because they need protection on cool nights.
