Folly Towers and walled garden at Tynte Lodge in Tullaghan, on the County Leitrim coast, Ireland
Tynte Lodge in Tullaghan, a small village on the northern edge of Ireland's County Leitrim's diminutive 4 kilometre coastline. Set into walls surrounding a neglected walled garden overlooking Donegal Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, the two weather-worn and decaying folly towers with gun loop windows functioned as ornamental features, rather than defensive ones given that they were built in a time of relative peace during the 18th century. This image appears in "Irish Follies and Whimsical Architecture" by George Munday and published by O'Brien Press in Dublin.
