Marines from "Co." and "I" Co. 3rd Bn. 5th Marines can be seen loading wounded soldiers from I Co. onto a HULE (Helicopter Utility-Light) for evacuation during Operation Hastings on July 24, 1966. On this day, I Co. encountered around 100 North Vietnamese regulars in a 10-hour battle. The photo was taken near the demilitarized zone between North Vietnam and the Republic of Vietnam.
