Chief Boatswain’s Mate John Adee directs the lowering of a rigid-hull inflatable boat aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Mahan (DDG 72) during small boat operations in the Red Sea, May 10. Mahan is deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
