Color, deep green with secondary floccose masses of mycelium in some cultures; reverse and color in media, red to very dark red, or, colorless in certain media. Odor, none. Fifteen per cent gelatin in water, thin, widespread but characteristic growth; lique- faction, none or very slight; litmus reaction acid. Potato agar and bean agar, typical.
