On this group is a shaft 80 feet deep,with 25 feet cross-cut. The ore assays $4 to $20 per ton. Up to the present time there have been 1,600 quartz claimslocated in the Whitehorse and Windy Arm districts. Though upwards of five hundred quartz claims have beenrecorded in the northern end of the territory, particularly inthe Klondike district, and large sums have been expended indevelopment work on the different groups of quartz propertiesby companies and private individuals, as well as aid given bythe Territorial Government, yet the results have been some-what disappointing, and quartz mining has not been carriedon with so much enthusiasm during the past year.
