The project provides modern teaching facilities for pupils and was redeveloped to replace the former 600-place academy with new facilities to accommodate 800 pupils, and it provides a 200-pupil sixth form. The academy specialises in teaching mathematics and performing arts to pupils up to 18 years and is being remodelled through an £8M refurbishment and new build programme of work. It has seen the refurbishment of an existing four-storey teaching block and the construction of a new linked-build teaching block to accommodate the academy’s maths, English and music teaching curriculum, as well as a new dining/commons and drama hall.
