An Autumnal view of Keswick, with Derwent Water sat behind it, and the majestic Northern Fells beyond that. Taken from Latrigg.

The view of Keswick with Derwent Water sat behind it and the majesty of the Northern Fells has to be one of the best in the Lake The point this image was taken from at the top of Latrigg is a favourite amongst photographers as it offers virtually a 360 degree option incorporating Skiddaw, Matterdale, Keswick, Catbells and Bassenthwaite. The plan had been to climb Catbells before dawn and shoot the sunrise over Derwent , despite getting three quarters of the way up we aborted the plan as the Lake was completely covered in a cloud inversion leaving no recognisable element for compositional purposes. To make matters worse, the overhead cloud was also completely grey and flat (again!) with no sign of a break in any direction. So we came back down and decided to head over to Latrigg and hoped for a break in the cloud to come and provide some side lighting across Keswick and the Lake. Once up there, the inversion had cleared and the cloud had indeed started to break up to the east allowing us to fire off a couple of pano shots before more cloud came in from the direction of Bassenthwaite and completely enveloped the scene reducing visibility to less than 100 metres.
