Koehlbrand Bridge in the harbour of Hamburg Germany

The Koehlbrandbruecke is a cable-stayed bridge in Hamburg, Germany which connects the harbour area between the Norderelbe and Suederelbe branches of the Elbe river with motorway A7. It was opened in 1974. It is 3,940 metres long, the centre piece 325 metres. It is carried by 75 pylons (the highest one of height 135 metres) and reaches a height of 55 metres to allow ships pass underneath it, even at high tide. Several people have committed suicide by jumping from the Koehlbrandbruecke.
