War of the League of Cognac (1526-1530). Sack of Rome on 6 May, 1527. Military event carried out by the troops of Holy Roman emperor Charles V (1500-1558). Charles III, Duke of Bourbon (1490-1527) and Constable of France, was in command of the imperial soldiers. His troops took the city and sacked it. Death of the Constable in the assault to Rome.
