Sheerness, Kent, UK. 9th May, 2018. UK Weather: the newly repainted Titan replica figurehead from 'HMS Forte' looking resplendent in the sun. The original is in Sheerness Docks. The replica fixed to the back of the sea wall was unveiled on 4th May 1984 to mark the completion of the Sheerness Sea Defences Scheme designed and constructed by the Southern Water Authority. HMS Forte was burnt at Sheerness on 23/11/1905. Sheerness was a Royal Naval Dockyard from the 1660s until 1960 due to its strategic position at the mouth of both the Medway and Thames estuaries.
