For eight years she waspresident of the North Carolina Society ofColonial Dames of America, and later hon-orary president. Our hearts were wrung withsorrow, for had we not all admired her splen-did achievements in the society, her constantthought and work for its best interests, andher ambition to have the North Carolina So-ciety of Colonial Dames take the place in theworld that she felt was its due?
