Lesser celandine or Pilewort, Ficaria verna, is a low-growing perennial common throughout the UK. It is widespread in woods, hedgerows, ditches and on the banks of streams, but can also be found in gardens. It has dark green, glossy, heart-shaped leaves and bright, shiny, yellow flowers that bloom in March or April.
