Torii at the entrance of the Meiji Shrine complex. The Meiji Jingu Shinto Shrine was dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji (1852-1912) and his wife, Empress Shōken (1849-1914). The present time shrine was finished in 1958, over the original one, built in the traditional Nagarezukuri style between 1915-1921 and destroyed by Tokyo air raids of World War II. Yoyogi Park.
