Cancer cells in ascitic fluid. Light micrograph of cancerous (malignant) glandular cells in human ascitic fluid. Here, the cluster of cancerous cells shows positive (red) staining for neutral mucin. These large cancer cells can divide and grow rapidly. Found in ascitic fluid (body cavity fluid), these cells may have originated from a diseased organ such as the liver or an ovary. Other diagnostic procedures would locate the precise site of the cancer. Stained with PAS Diastase. Magnification: x40 at 35mm size.
