Bishop's Observatory. 19th-century artwork showing the view from the north-west of the observatory maintained at Meadowbank in East Twickenham, London, UK, by George Bishop, Jr. The instruments housed here were originally located in the famous South Villa Observatory in Regent's Park, built by Bishop's father George Bishop (1785-1861). The Meadowbank observatory was used from around 1862 or 1863 to 1877, when the instruments and library were presented to the Royal Observatory of Naples. The Meadowbank observatory was demolished in 1961. This artwork was published in 1869 in 'The Illustrated London News'.
