US Space and Rocket Center display. This centre is on land that was part of Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama, USA. Proposed in 1960, the site opened in 1970. The rockets (from left) are: a Hermes A-1 (German WW2 guided rocket), a V2 missile (German WW2 rocket), a Jupiter I ballistic missile (US Air Force, 1956-1961), a Redstone ballistic missile (US Army, 1958-1964), a Saturn I launch vehicle (55 metres high, first flew in 1961 as part of the Apollo program) and the Juno-1 launch vehicle (used in 1958 to launch the Explorer 1 satellite).
