Hecertainly was active and prominent in establishing the Church, and thereis ample evidence that he was liberal in his gifts. In this respect, so faras is known, he quite surpassed all of its other benefactors, and the Min-ister and Church Wardens showed their grateful appreciation, not only ofhis gifts, but also of his ready aid, when they wished to reach the ear ofthe Queen, or of the Bishop of London.
