Spectators, musicians, government heads at the 500 year celebration of Luribay, Bolivia, a small Bolivian village, South America

Spectators gather as musicians, members of the municipal government and representatives of trade and unions parade in, through and around the town of Luribay, commemorating its 500 year anniversary. Luribay is a small town in Bolivia, in the José Ramón Loayza province, department of La Paz, South America. Luribay is renowned for its fruit production, particularly peaches, pears, peas and grapes as it is for the world's most dangerous roads. Bolivia is also home to Latin America’s first indigenous president, Evo Morales. The parade resembles a carnival with boys dressed as soldiers while girls wear nurse’s uniforms. Men and women wear traditional dress and the national flag as well as the plurinational flag is flown.
