Philothamnus heterolepidotus I But the total snake fauna of the Kenyan coast amounts to 48 species (Appen- dix B and Table 4) and of these 17 (or 35 %) reach West Africa. The Kenyan inland fauna (of 61 species) includes 30 (or 49 %) West African species.
