City Hall San Francisco on Feb 22nd 1851 where they were holding suspected murderers Windred & Stuart (alias Burdue). The crowd of 5000+ were agitated and calling for public lynching whilst the police surrounded the building to protect it. (Windred escaped by cutting a hole in the floor of his cell). Later the controversy arose that all men were not guilty due to not being in that location when the offence took place.
