As avery necessary means to this end, prose compositionin both languages will be studied systematicallythroughout the course. In translation, the authorscommonly used In college courses will be studied,and an effort made to present their books as works ofliterature, not merely so much material for grammati-cal dissection. More important than the mere studyof form, is a realization of the eloquence of Cicero,the beauty of Virgil and Horace, and the living, irre-sistible charm of genius and spirit in the whole fieldof Greek literature.
