NORFOLK, Va. (Aug. 10, 2018) Capt. Richard McCormack, USS Gerald R. Ford’s (CVN 78) commanding officer, gives remarks prior to being relieved by Capt. John J. Cummings, Ford’s perspective commanding officer, during the ship’s change of command ceremony at Vista Point. The change of command ceremony is a time honored Naval tradition in which the transfer of responsibility, authority, and accountability occurs from one individual to another individual.
