Kashmiri villagers boil wicker sticks to soften its skin before peeling the cover of the sticks, on the outskirts of Srinagar. Wicker is used for making traditional firepots called kangri in kashmir. Kashmiris use these traditional firepots to keep themselves warm during severe winter months when temperature dips as low as minus 20. Kangri is made of clay and twigs in which hot charcoal are kept.
