Bastille Day, 1790
Entitled: "Travaux du Champ de Mars pour la federation du 14 Juillet 1790." Shows many people working to transform the Champ de Mars into a place suitable for the fÌ»te de la fÌ©dÌ©ration, on the anniversary of the fall of the Bastille, commemorating the establishment of the constitutional monarchy. Bastille Day is the name given in English speaking countries to the French National Day, which is celebrated on July 14 each year. The French National Day commemorates the beginning of the French Revolution with the Storming of the Bastille on the July 14, 1789, as well as the FÌ»te de la FÌ©dÌ©ration on the July 14, 1790. Celebrations are held all over France. The oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe is held on the morning of July 14, on the Champs-ÌälysÌ©es avenue in Paris in front of the President of the Republic, French officials and foreign guests.
