FAGER, Henry Fager, son of John Fager and SarahCleckner, was born in the year 1806, at Harrisburg, received careful training and a good read medicine with Dr. Martin Luther, one of themore prominent of the early physicians at Harris-burg, and attended medical lectures at the Universityof Pennsylvania. In 1829 he began the practice ofhis profession at Harrisburg, which he continueduntil his death, a period of forty-three years. In1840, his attention being called to the homoeopathicsystem, the doctor commenced the study of the newtheory, and afterwards adopted it in his #ljza^^ Lutheran Church at Harrisburg in 1795; served ascommissioner of the county of Dauphin, and for anumber of years was a member of the Town retiring from active business, late in life, he wasthe collector of tolls at the east end of the Harris-burg bridge. He died at Harrisburg on the 10th ofMay, 1848, lacking one month of being eighty yearsof age. Mr. Fager married Sarah Cleckner, born1772, died 1844, at Harrisburg, daughter of FrederickCleckner, Sr., one of the first settlers at had ten children, of whom reached mature yearswere Sarah, married George Adams, of Harrisburg;Catharine, married Frederick Kelker, of Harrisburg;Samuel, George C, and John H. He was quite a successful physician, and enjoyed theconfidence of the community. Apart from his pro-fessional life, Dr. Fager was a valued citizen. Forthirty-three years he was a mem
