USGS scientists monitoring Kilauea eruption. Kilauea is a volcano on the main island of Hawaii. An eruptive episode began in May 2018, known as the 2018 lower Puna eruption. The USGS (United States Geological Survey) scientists are in Leilani Estates, walking past volcanic spatter that was erupted from fissures 5 and 6 on Leilani Avenue.
