End-bulbs have been found inthe conjunctiva, the mucous membranes of the mouth, in the lips, soft palate, the skin of the glaus penis, and the clitoris. The taetile corpuscles are oval bodies about 3-^ of an inch long, and 3-^ of an inch thick. They consist of a central core of a soft, transparent, slightly granular substance, which is enclosed in connec-tive-tissue capsules bearing oblong nuclei. The nervous fibres runto the summit of the core, and there lose their medullary sheathbefore terminating. The tactile corpuscles are contained in papillae,as are also the end-bulbs, and are found in the skin of the handsand feet. Fig. Drawing from a transverse section of a horses 360 diameters. The Pacinian bodies are named after Pacini of Pisa, althoughothers had previously described them. They are little seed-likebodies, about the size of a grain of wheat, clinging to the are oval in shape, from yV ^o jq of an inch long, and fromTW ^^ To o^ ^ ^^^^ broad. In the centre is a core of transparent, soft, homogeneous substance. The core is sheathed around with anumber of concentric membranous layers, between each of whichis a small pellucid amount of fluid. These layers consist of a homo-geneous or faintly striated material, intermixed with very fine, seem-ingly elastic fibres on the outer surface, whilst the inner surface iscovered with a delicate layer of flattened epithelioid cells. Aroundthe core and its concentric layers is a capsule of ordinary connectivetissue. The nerve fibre penetrates the core,
