The 'Big One Rollercoaster' opened 28 May 1994 at a cost of £12 million. The highest point seen here, right of shot, rises 65m (213 feet) above the ground, having a drop of 62 m (205 feet) and an incline of 65 degrees. Trains, each capable of carrying 30 people, attain speeds of 74 mph (119 km/h) in a ride lasting three minutes. When opened, the 'Big One' was the tallest and steepest rollercoaster in the world, and one of the fastest. With a length of 1675m (5,497 ft) the ride is also one of the longest. Three trains can travel at any one time. A view of the rollercoaster's mid-point and big drops along the South Shore Ocean Boulevard.
