Thiswas because she had no wildcatbanks and wildcat paper money,because she had received silverthrough the Santa Fe Trade, andalso because she had not speculatedso much. It was in 1837 that theUnited States Government calledon Missouri for troops to fight the Seminole Indians inFlorida. Colonel Richard Gentry, of Columbia, raised a regi-ment. The men .suffered severely and Col. Gentry was killedin battle. It was during Governor Boggs temi that trouble arosewith the Mormons, which finally resulted in war and their ex-. W.
