This line, ) miles long, has since beenprofitably operated and this year has seen the completion of. The Paris extension is interest-ing on account of the high construction standards used andthe thoroughness with which the work has been executed. were necessary, the excavation approximating 500,000 cubicyards in the miles. The roadbed varies in section fromthat ordinarily used, in that the center line of the roadbedis not the track center. To provide for the easy maintenanceof a sufficient amount of earth around the butts of the polesto hold them permanently in their set position, the roadbedis 16 feet wide, but the track is placed two feet oft center,making available an extra 2-foot width of roadbed on the poleside.
