Mosque lamps. Ceramic mosque lamps hung from the ceiling by chains. Their shape is based on earlier glass examples fom Mamluk Egypt (AD 1250-1517). It is likely that a glass oil lamp would have been fitted to provide light. There is also a symbolic association of light with God.
