The Aurora, Elgin & Chicago Ry., which was described in theReview for Aug. 20, 1902, is a double-track third-rail road ex-tending from 52nd Ave., Chicago, the terminus of the MetropolitanElevated, 21 miles to Wheaton, at which point the double tracksdiverge, one running in a northwesterly direction to Elgin, theother in a southwesterly direction to Aurora. A seven-mile branchconnects Batavia with a junction point on the main line about fourmiles northeast of Aurora. The new service was made possible by an agreement between themanagements of the Metropolitan elevated and the Aurora, Elgin& Chicago roads by which the suburban cars from Aurora andElgin are given the privilege of running express schedule from theterminus of the Metropolitan road at 52nd Ave. to its new FifthAve. Stub-terminal.
