Mine drainage; Acid mine drainage; Wetlands. variable head method modified from the hydrostatic time-lag method of Hvorslev (1951), as reviewed by Cedergren (1977), was used to calculate saturated field hydraulic conductivity. This method is based on the rate at which water rises or falls in a hole after a known volume (slug) has been removed or added. In the case of the auger holes a bailer was used to remove a volume of water and the rate of water rise was measured using equipment designed similar to that described by Beers (1983). For the piezometers a volume of a solid steel rod was added and the rate of water fall was measured using an electric tape.
