Badger and Louisa Noble Ash-by. He was baptized Aug. 6, 1888,set apart for his mission March 10,1905, and returned July 10, 1908. DALTON, Don Mack, president ofthe South African Mission froiii 1929to 1935, was born May 12, 1895, inManassa, Colorado, the son of John C. Dalton and Hannah Daphne was baptized May 12, 1903, andlater ordained a High Priest. He wasset apart as president of the SouthAfrican Mission Jan. 2, 1929; return-ed July 14, 1935. FOTHERINGHAM, William, presi-dent of the South African Mission. from 1861 to 1864, died Feb. 27, 1913,in Milford, Beaver Co., Utah. (SeeBio. Ency., Vol. 2, p. 190.) HAVEN, Jesse, president of theSouth African Mission from 1853 to1855, was born March 28, 1814, inHolliston, Middlesex Co., Mass., a sonof John Haven and Betsy Howe. Hewas baptized April 13, 1838, by ElderJoseph Ball, was with the Saints intheir persecutions and expulsion fromthe State of Missouri; was ordainedan Elder Jan. 10, 1839, by BrighamYoung, and at a conference heldMarch 19, 1841, he was called to fill amission in the Eastern States. OnNov. 24, 1842, he married Martha ; emigrated to Nauvoo from Mas-sachusetts, and when the 14th quo-rum of Seventy was organized hewas ordained one of the presidentsof that quorum.
