It would be difficult to describethe peculiar fascination this place has forold and young. It is visited by over twomillion persons every year and every oneof them I am sure enjoyed the the curious denizens of the deep are hereshown in real life and the tame seals areonly one of many attractions. The Bronx Zoological Garden I presume the Zoo is the only other at-traction that rivals the Aquarium in popu- 279. lar interest. Wild animals always attractthe yoving people and the Bronx ZoologicalGarden is now said to rank first in theworld. It has undoubtedly a most remark-able collection and some extraordinaryspecimens, and with some recent additionsit is now in a position to challenge compe-tition with any other similar organizationin the world. The number of visitors everyday is remarkable and on holidays theymake a host in themselves. Old New York At the request of the late Mr. J. we prepared a volume on thissubject which was handsomely bound,limited to less than three hundred copiesand sold at per_ copy. As a speci-men of bookmaking it is without a rival. About a dozen copies are left at thiswriting and any of our readers who maywish one will please communicate. The publication of this book revealed amuch wider market for a work on this topicthan we supposed existed. We are, there-fore, at work on such a project, and ifpossible will make the price 5
