Current infested counties New counties reported period of 4/13-26 HORN FLY (Haematobia irritans) - TEXAS - Heavy, local infestation, 700 per animal, noted on cattle in Cameron County. (Texas Coop. Rpt.; Day), OKLAHOMA - Popula- tions 25-50 per head on yearlings and cows in central and north central areas; counts 75-150 per head at location in Logan County. Activity also reported from other areas of State, with 100-150 per head in Mcintosh County. (). KANSAS - Over 200 flies counted on Angus bull in Morton County. In other south- west and south central areas of State, coimts under 1 per animal. (Peters). GEORGIA - Ranged 10-100 and averaged 30 per animal on cattle in Putnam County. (Roberts, Apr. 17). CATTLE GRUBS (Hypoderma spp.) - WASHINGTON - Ranged 4-22 on untreated beef cattle at Pullman, Whitman County. (Brannon). SHEEP KED (Melophagus ovinus) - NEW MEXICO - Troublesome in flocks in Torrance County during spring; several flocks heavily infested at shearing time. (N. M. Coop. Rpt.). MOSQUITOES - CALIFORNIA - Aedes sierrensis currently a severe problem in wooded areas. Landscaping and use of sprinklers created situations where tree holes kept wet for long periods produced 2 or 3 generations rather than usual one. Flight range limited. Currently causing severe annoyance to residents. B
