Autumn leaves, with black and silver taj)eKtry, furnished the background, and carried out the stage effect. A second window showed handsome baskets of roses, dahlias and hardy mums. Here, too, was a "floral" fruit basket, with grapes, apples, and the lowly peanut, arranged in a most entic- ing Broadway stopped to look, and when Broadway looks, it means "something ; Store at Stamford. The Quality Seed Store, Stamford, Conn., conducted for nearly ten years by George B. Cannon, been sold to Frank Baumann, of Long Island City, and John I. Sipp, of Newark, N. J., who will liereafter conduct the business un- der the name of the Stamford Seed & Flower Co. Some chang('s will be made in the store, located at 43 Atlantic street, which will tend to improve the serv- ice, and also the exterior of the build- ing. In addition to the general line of seeds, the new concern will handle poul- try foods and supplies, garden tools, horticultural books, florists' supplies, insecticides and fungicides. For a number of years Mr. Cannon operated a nursery located on the edge of the town. This business will be con- tinued by the new firm, and in addition thereto a department will be added cov- ering flowering plants and cut flowers. John C.
