A blade of a Roman gladius pompeianus, 3rd century AD Slender, double-edged blade with slight central ridge, the point reinforced by strong ribs on both sides. Surfaces in good condition with recognisable blade setup with Damascus core and attached edges. The root of the blade with remnants of a rectangular mark with inscription on one side. Strong, slightly tapered tang, the end was broken while it was in use. Length 59 cm.
