And he it further ordained^ That it shall belawful for the clerk of the market, or his deputies,or such person or persons as the Common Councilshall, from time to time, for that purpose appoint,to have, demand, and receive from the butchers,and other persons resorting the said public marketsto sell meat, for their respective stalls, standings,places, boards, shelter, and other things necessaryfor their standings in the said public markets, andfor keeping the same clean ; and also for defrayingthe incidental charges of repairing the markets, re-warding the care and attendance of the clerk of. 13 the markets or his deputies, or such other personor persons as aforesaid—the rates and sums of mo-ney following, to wit: For each quarter of beef brought into the saidpublic markets, six cents.
